Naypyidaw: Horse Racing Center - Myanmar - Concept Design for Hotel/Racecourse/Equestrian Center

We are exploring the feasibility of developing a horse (equestrian)-themed leisure area in Myanmar (Burma)
close to the border with Thailand. The project includes a small hotel, spa/wellness area, horse racing track,
equestrian/riding center, restaurants and entertainment area. The aim is to integrate the race track into the hotel
area in an innovative fashion (see for example Formula 1 circuit - Abu Dhabi). Given that this is the first project of
this nature in the region (the horse racing track in Yangon has been closed for decades), we want the project to
be as small as possible. Design should be cognizant of:
the natural beauty and resources of Myanmar - noble wood and unspoiled environment
strong focus on sustainability and "circular economy"
community integration - employment generation
historical context - including equestrian tradition (elephants included)
investment constraints - more of a regional entertainment area than another Macau
We are looking for a high-level design concept which will permit us to then move on to a preliminary study and
ultimate masterplan (when site has been designated). Hence, the focus is on obtaining an inspirational design,
especially one that integrates the horse racing track into the hotel in a seamless manner. We require a limited,
clear and simple (and most importantly inspiring) set of drawings that illustrate the desired "concept". Please
note that the judges for this phase will be regional officials and the project developers with the support of an
architectural consultant.

We are offering a $500 as a prize for the winning entry and the opportunity (for a qualified architectural firm) to
work with us on the preliminary design (should we decide to go ahead). What is important to us at this stage is
the "concept", not the detail.
