Diversity in Architecture (DIVIA) engagiert sich seit 2021 für mehr Sichtbarkeit und Anerkennung von Frauen in der Architektur und Stadtplanung. Am Freitag, 1. November 2024 organisiert der Verein zu diesem Zweck erstmals die Konferenz „Mind the Gap“ im Berliner Architekturforum Aedes. Die Veranstaltung soll künftig im Wechsel mit den zweijährig verliehenen DIVIA Awards stattfinden und internationale Expertinnen, Architektinnen sowie Studierende zusammenführen.

Drei thematische Blöcke sollen aktuelle Herausforderungen und Chancen für Frauen in der Architektur beleuchten. Den Auftakt machen Pascale Sablan (Adjaye Associates, New York), Stadtsoziologin Friederike Laudan-Donnelly und Mechthild Ebert (saai | Archiv am Karlsruher Institut für Technologie) mit einem Blick darauf, wie bestehende Lücken in Theorie und Praxis erkannt und geschlossen werden können. Im zweiten Block steht die Frage im Mittelpunkt, wie interdisziplinäre Zusammenarbeit eine nachhaltige und integrative Architektur fördern kann. Anschließend präsentieren Jette Hopp (Snøhetta, Oslo), Melodie Leung (Zaha Hadid Architects, London) und Rozana Montiel (Rozana Montiel Estudio de Arquitectura, Mexiko-Stadt) konkrete Projekte, die mit innovativen Ansätzen praktische Hindernisse überwinden.

An der abschließenden Diskussionsrunde nehmen unter anderem Sol Camacho (Raddar, São Paulo), Anupama Kundoo (Anupama Kundoo Architects, Berlin) und Renato Turri (World Architects, Zürich) teil.
