Das Verkehrsmuseum in Dresden veranstaltet am Mittwoch, 29. November 2023 zu dieser Frage das Podiumsgespräch „Schönheit, Stadtgestaltung und Aufenthaltsqualität – Chancen im Rahmen der Mobilitätswende“. Gäste auf dem Podium sind Hans-Joachim Neis (Professor für Stadtarchitektur und Stadtbautheorie an der Universität von Oregon) und Tom Schoper vom Dresdner Büro schoper.schoper. Sein Büro hat in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Amt für Stadtplanung und Mobilität 2020–22 die neue Gestaltungsleitlinie für Architektur und Stadtraum in Dresden erarbeitet.

Unter der Moderation von Friederike Meyer (Chefredakteurin BauNetz Meldungen) sollen unter anderem folgende Fragen diskutiert werden: „Wie gewinnt man lebendige Städte (zurück)? Gibt es einen Weg zu schönen und lebenswerten Stadtquartieren? Oder bleibt Schönheit reine Geschmackssache und die Gestaltung lebendiger Stadträume somit Zufall?“
